Welcome to Pet Savers, Inc. in Shreveport, Louisiana. We are a
non-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to rescue,
protect, and place abandoned or unwanted pets and provide funds
for neutering, spaying, and other veterinary care.
We provide a safe, no-kill alternative to Animal Control. Our
space is limited, however, and if pets are not being adopted
fast enough we won't have room to take on more.

CALLING PET SAVERS
Because of our huge call volume, we are not able to take calls or messages on our Pet Savers phone (318) 636-0400. We ask you to try using our website instead. But, if you are desperate to talk with someone, you can contact Sandy (318) 617-7210, Karen (318) 347-6959, or Amanda (337) 375-2998, between 9 and 6. Speak SLOWLY and CLEARLY when leaving them a message and be sure your voicemail is set up and not full. We are not equipped to respond to emergencies, however. Our staff and volunteers are limited as we are a small non-profit organization funded by your donations. 75 DOGS, 35 CATS! We are governed by City zoning and licensed by Caddo Parish Animal Services.
We welcome your visit to the shelter (4380 Noyes Dr.) and we are now adopting by application, which you can download from this site. Our pets are precious to us and we have big financial and emotional investments in them. We simply try to make the best match for both the person and the animal. Our adoption fees, as of Sept 1, 2013 are $85 for most dogs, and $65 for cats...cash or check. (Some of our cats and kittens are at Petsmart, both on Youree Drive and in Bossier. Adoption fee the same, but cash only.)

We can always use volunteers!
We need one retired person per day to greet clients in our office from noon to about 3:30. You can pet dogs, pet cats, load laundry, read a magazine. (The staff is often out with the dogs and can't hear the doorbell.)
You can come out and walk a dog or two outside the shelter. They LOVE it and it's good for you.
Please check out other volunteer opportunities under the "Ways To Give" drop down menu.
Surrendering Your Pet
Pet Savers wants to save as many animals as possible. We are a limited intake shelter, so due to space limitations we are unable to accept every animal. We are almost always at capacity. 75 DOGS...35 CATS...that's IT!
SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT CATS...
We can take them if they are up to date much easier than if they are not.
Reach out to friends, family members, co-workers and neighbors to see if anyone might be interested in your pet. Email everyone you know and ask them to pass on the email to others. It may not be easy to let others know that you need to re-home your pet, but a shelter is not usually the best place for it. The best thing for your animal is going from your home to another GOOD home.
We CAN post your pet on our FB page for you and give you ideas about screening applicants.
If you have a specific breed of pet, do a Google search for your breed's rescue, e.g. Golden Retriever Rescue. Don't worry about how far away it is.
We are not the only rescue in the area...just the largest...but we are still limited. For a complete list of local rescue organizations, go to the Robinson's Rescue site: www.robinsonsrescue.org
If you do need to bring us your pet for possible intake, please try NOT to come on our busiest day at our busiest time (Sat 12 - 3). We are open 7 days a week. Please don't threaten us with taking it to be killed at the pound unless we take it. We want to help solve your problem, but we did not create it.

The Pet Savers Shelter
4380 Noyes Dr.
Shreveport, LA 71119
Every Day from Noon-4:00pm
Other times by appointment.
Directions: From I-20 heading west. Take Pines Rd. exit (exit 10)
and turn right (north). Take the first right (Greenwood Rd. - Rt. 80) and
go about 1/2 mile to just beyond Shouse Collision Repair. Turn left on
Noyes Rd. and go to the end.
Our standard adoption fees range from $80-$150 for dogs and $60 for cats.
Because many of the pets we save are strays, we cannot guarantee
that they are house-trained, good with children, good with other
pets, friendly or unfriendly. We simply don't know their history
unless the owners gave them up for adoption. But we feel all
animals are deserving of a home and safe place to live, regardless
of how large or small, cute or homely, perfect or disabled.
We rely on donations to keep up our work. If you can help us with
donations or by volunteering, we welcome you. If not, we hope
you will tell others about us. And thanks for visiting our web
Note: Please do NOT bring pets to the shelter without prior permission.
